Happy Friday to you, Sea Spray fans, and welcome to our latest edition of Fun Fact Friday! This week, we're taking a look at the origins of ironing. Did you know that concept of ironing has been around for millennia, with the ancient Chinese to be the first recorded civilization of ironing? The Chinese took a pan, filled it with hot coals, and used that to run down the fabric, making it wrinkle-free in the process. Modern ironing wasn't developed until the advent of the blacksmith, who created metal irons that ran on coal. However the iron of today that we're used to did not come into focus until the early 20th century, when a patent for a removable iron handle was filed. Ironing has been around for a long time, but it can also take a long time to do. Instead, how about you run over whatever you need pressed to us, and we'll take care of it stress-free. Or better yet, give us a call and have us pick up your garments, for no extra charge. ...

Hello there all you Sea Spray fans! Welcome to another lovely Friday, and with it, welcome to another Fun Fact Friday. This week, in honor of Mother's Day, we have a little statistic on moms and laundry. Did you know that as of 2013, 79% of working mothers say that they are responsible for doing the laundry at home? Of all the working families in America, where both the mother and father work, 79% of mothers tend to do the bulk of the laundry work around the house. However, the tide is shifting, as 35% of millennial working men say that they are responsible for the laundry. So, in light of these statistics this Mother's Day, how about you do your mom a favor and have us come by her house take care of her laundry, because statistically speaking, she has taken care of yours for a good portion of your life. From all of us at Sea Spray Dry Cleaning, we wish you and your mom a very splendid Mother's Day! Be sure to make her day special, and to ...

Hey Sea Spray fans, happy Friday to you! As with every other Friday, we have another fun fact ready for you. This week, we're getting historical, and going back to the Civil War. Did you know that in the Union Army, washerwomen were paid more than the enlisted soldiers? With each washerwoman responsible for the cleaning and mending of clothes for 20 men, she was well compensated for her duties. In addition, she was given a tent, rations, a hatchet, and full services of the company's surgeon. Not a bad deal for a laundress serving her country! Enjoy your weekend, Sea Spray fans!

Hey all you Sea Spray fans, it's finally Friday, and that means that another fun fact is heading your way! This week, in honor of the return of baseball (and Jake Arrieta's no-hitter last nigh), we have a little something on the baseball uniform. Did you know that the baseball uniform was first put into play in 1849? The Knickerbocker Base Ball Club of New York wore blue woolen pants, a white flannel shirt, and straw hats for their 1849 season, only 4 years after their first season as a baseball club. Over the next 160 years, the uniform would evolve countless times, bringing in numerous trends that are still relevant in baseball today (knee-high socks, jersey patches, lettering, etc.). No matter what baseball trend appeals to you, just know that you can bring in any baseball apparel you have to us to get them wash and/or tailored. With free pickup and delivery, it's absolutely a steal (pun intended)!
